Barnburgh ward has a new nurses' station, flooring, shower room, office, sinks, kitchen, and furnishings.

The need for refurbishment, was identified by hospital staff, and as a result of a visit by the Patient Environment Action Team.

h ward sister, Beverley Beal said: "One of the main problems was the nurses' station where we have computers and telephones.

"The high reception counter was a barrier to communication and patients and relatives could not easily approach or speak to staff working in this area.
