MVHR (Heat Recovery)

Mechanical heat recovery ventilation (MVHR) is an energy recovery ventilation system incorporating a heat exchanger.

HRV provides fresh air and improved climate control, while also saving energy by reducing heating (and cooling) requirements.

As building efficiency is improved with insulation air tightness, the building is consequently less well ventilated. Since all buildings require a source of fresh air, the need for MVHRs has become obvious. While opening a window does provide ventilation, the building's heat and humidity will then be lost in the winter and gained in the summer, both of which are undesirable for the indoor climate and for energy efficiency.

MVHR provides an energy efficient way to provide high quality climate control within a building to recover warm air being extracted from the kitchen and bathroom to heat the fresh air being supplied to the living room and bedrooms of a dwelling.
